ABOUT THE AWARD:

The Foundation invites proposals from Indian theatre practitioners towards skill enhancement in the field of theatre.  This could include attending training workshops, residencies or any other activity that the applicant deems appropriate for a maximum duration of one year. It should be noted that this award  does NOT cover tuition fee towards attending a full-time theatre programme at an institute.

DURATION AND MONETARY VALUE: 

  1. Depending on the proposal and the length of the proposed programme, the Foundation will provide an allowance of Rs. 15,000 per month for the duration of the programme, which should not exceed one year.
  2. For short-term awards (of three months or less) the amount awarded will be paid upfront and the mentor or institution will need to submit a letter certifying that the awardee attended and completed the programme for which the award was made.
  3. For longer-term awards (of over three months) half the amount awarded will be paid at the beginning. The second installment will be paid at the midpoint of the term of the award on receipt of a progress report from the head of the institution, mentor, guide or guru under whom the applicant will be working.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. The applicant should be a recent graduate / post-graduate from a leading Indian institute for theatre in India. Applicants not having a formal degree but possessing a high quality record of past achievements may be considered in exceptional circumstances.
  2. The recipient should not hold a similar / government scholarship or award during the tenure of the Inlaks Theatre Award.
  3. Those born on or after 1st January 1989 are eligible to apply.
  4. The applicant for this award must be an Indian passport holder, currently resident in India.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

  1. The downloaded application form may be filled in by hand or by type and should be emailed in. 
  2. The applications may be sent to the following email: info@inlaksfoundation.orgThe subject line should read as: Inlaks Theatre Award 2025 
  3. The applicant must send a letter from the mentor / institution under whom the applicant proposes to undergo the skill enhancement programme. The mentor will submit a half term and end of year progress report of the applicant to the Foundation.
  4. The application must be submitted in PDF format only. Please note that there is a 10 MB limit on PDF submissions. If your file is not in PDF format or is over 10 MB it will not be considered. 
  5. Please state if you have applied for an Inlaks award before. If so, mention the year you had applied.

 

ATTACHMENTS TO BE INCLUDED WITH THE DULY FILLED IN FORM:

  1. Letter of acceptance from your Guru/ Guide /institution/collaborator with whom you intend to work.
  2. Proof of Age and Residence – in a PDF format ONLY.

 

SELECTION PROCESS:

  1. The selection procedure will take place in two rounds. The written application and reference letters will be the major criterion for the first round. The short-listed applicants will then be expected to appear for an interview online and audition for the final selection.
  2. The candidates shortlisted for the interview will be informed by early October 2024.  
  3. The final interviews will be held online by Mid-October 2024.
